These terms govern your use of Athens Tourism Guide at www.athenstourism.org. Reading the site means you accept them. They are written in plain English on purpose.
What this site is
Athens Tourism Guide publishes free, independent reference guides to visiting Athens. It is an editorial publication, not a travel agency, a tour operator, a ticket reseller or an official tourist authority. It sells nothing, processes no bookings, and holds no licence or accreditation from any Greek public body.
Accuracy, and the limits of it
The guides are researched carefully and checked against primary sources, but Athens is a moving target and no travel guide is ever fully current. In particular:
- Opening hours change with the season. Greek archaeological sites and museums run different summer and winter timetables, and the changeover dates move from year to year. The Acropolis in particular closes far earlier in winter than in August.
- Ticket prices are revised. Entry fees, the combined ticket and reduced-rate eligibility are set by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and change without much notice. Every euro figure on this site is a planning estimate, not a quotation.
- Sites close at short notice. Restoration works, extreme heat protocols, public holidays and strike action — which affect Greek museums and public transport more often than visitors expect — can shut a site or a metro line on the day you planned to use it.
- Businesses close. Restaurants, bars and shops named in the guides may have changed hands, moved, or shut, and many close for part of August.
Always confirm opening times, prices and availability with the site, museum, operator or business directly before you travel or on the morning you intend to go. If you find something out of date here, please tell us.
No professional advice
Nothing on this site is professional advice. Guidance about safety, neighbourhoods, pickpocketing risk, accessibility, heat, health, travel insurance, visas or money is general information for trip planning, and cannot account for your circumstances.

- For insurance, read the policy rather than our summary of what policies generally cover.

Accessibility information is given in good faith, but lift outages, temporary ramps and surface conditions at ancient sites change constantly. If step-free access is essential to your trip, verify it with the site operator before you commit.
Third parties and outbound links
Where a guide links to an external site — a museum, a transport operator, a government page — that is for your convenience. We do not control those sites, are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability, and a link is not an endorsement.
The same applies to any business named in a guide. Mentioning a hotel, restaurant, tour or shop is editorial judgement, not a recommendation you can rely on contractually, and any transaction you enter into with them is entirely between you and them. We are not a party to it and cannot help if it goes wrong.
Advertising and independence
The site is funded by display advertising served by third-party networks. Advertisements are selected automatically by the ad network, not chosen by us, and their presence is not an endorsement of the advertiser or its products. Advertising is visually distinguishable from editorial content.
We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, do not publish sponsored posts or paid links, and do not earn commission on bookings. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly on the affected pages. For how advertising cookies work, see the privacy policy.
Copyright and how you may use the content
All text on this site is original work and is the copyright of Athens Tourism Guide. Photographs are used under the licences of the stock libraries they came from.
You may read the guides, print them, and take them to Athens on your phone. You may quote a short extract with a clear credit and a link back to the page it came from. You may not republish a guide in whole or in substantial part, rewrite it as your own, or use the content to train a commercial model, without written permission.
If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, get in touch through the contact page with the page URL and evidence of your ownership, and it will be investigated promptly.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its hosting, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other readers, or use the contact form to send bulk or unsolicited commercial messages.
Liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of it or from reliance on anything published here — including a missed opening time, a closed site, a journey that took longer than stated, or a booking made with a third party.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Availability
We try to keep the site up but do not guarantee it. Access may be suspended or withdrawn at any time, and guides may be revised, merged or removed as Athens changes.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The current version is always the one on this page, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
General
Athens Tourism Guide is read from all over the world, and your rights as a consumer are set by the law of the country you live in. Nothing in these terms takes away any protection that the mandatory consumer law of your own country gives you, and nothing here requires you to bring a claim anywhere other than where the law entitles you to bring it.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable where you are, the rest of them continue to apply. Failing to enforce a term on one occasion does not waive it.
